All the credit for “The Greatest Free Show on Earth” can be given to a multitude of hard working volunteers. The trustees and chairpersons for Pumpkin Show, Inc., which sponsors the festival, work almost year-round in planning, scheduling and promoting the Circleville Pumpkin Show.

The Sunday preceding the festival you can find volunteers readying the streets of downtown. Vendor spaces need to be marked off, displays erected, booths moved in and platforms raised in anticipation of crowds of festival goers!

Everyone is busy during the four days of Pumpkin Show. There are parades to orchestrate, contests to judge, pumpkins to weigh and pies to be served. Volunteers for all the area school, church and civic organizations sell everything from pumpkin chili to Pumpkin Show T-shirts.

On the Sunday following Pumpkin Show, all the trappings are stored away, the streets are cleaned up and the downtown again regains some semblance of normalcy.
