Katie Easter, of Pickaway
Elementary School, beat out
182 other area first graders to
win the title of Little Miss
Pumpkin Show.
A total of 183 contestants,
just short of the record of 190
entrants set in 1996, vied for
the 101st Circleville Pumpkin
Show Little Miss crown.
Easter, the daughter of Jason
and Andrea, was very excited
to be crowned Little Miss
Pumpkin Show and said she
was looking forward to riding
on the parade float. She was
sponsored by Maggie and Me.
“We’re just in shock, this is
unbelievable,” said Andrea
Easter.
Rebekah Ann Lynch, of
Miami Trace school district,
and daughter of Dick and
Michelle Lynch, was crowned
as Little Miss Pumpkin Show
First Attendant. She was sponsored
by Judy Lemley, Realtor.
Sydney Weller, of
Washington Elementary, and
daughter of Andy and Lisa
Weller, was awarded Little
Miss Pumpkin Show Second
Attendant. She was sponsored
by Lisa Weller Consulting.
Lynch and Weller both said
they were disappointed not to
be named queen but were nevertheless
excited to be named
as members of the queen’s
court.
The three judges that had
the difficult task of choosing
this year’s Little Miss Pumpkin
Show were Christy
Throckmorton, of Chillicothe’s
Feast of the Flowering Festival,
Jim Shumway, of the
Nelsonville Parade of the Hills,
and Stephanie Moon, of The
Wellston Coal Festival.
“This is probably the hardest
thing I’ve ever done. We all
three agreed the winner was
most talkative and friendly. It
was very difficult,” Moon said.
Before the contest began, a
special tribute was paid to the
late Brittany Oberly. Oberly,
16, was Little Miss Pumpkin
Show First Attendant in 1997.
She died in a car crash in mid-
September. This year’s Little
Miss Pumpkin Show was dedicated
to her and Pumpkin Show
recognized Oberly’s parents
with a gift of a basket of mums.
