Katy Ankrom, 16, Circleville High School junior - Katy is the daughter
of John and Teresa Ankrom of Circleville.
At Circleville High School, she has been involved in varsity cross
country, basketball, track, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Key Club, Pep
Club, Presbyterian church youth group and Sunday school teacher's assistant
and Pickaway County Bicentennial Committee.
After high school, Katy plans to pursue a college degree in Graphic
Design. While in college she plans to run cross country and indoor and
outdoor track.
If she could invite anyone to the Pumpkin Show, she would invite her
great-grandfather Ankrom because he designed and built one of the first
pumpkin pyramids in the 1940s. She wants him to see how much the Pumpkin
Show has changed and grown over the years and the pumpkin pyramid is still a
major attraction.
Her most enjoyable Pumpkin Show experience was when she watched her
cross country and track teammate, Renee Colangeli, receive first attendant
in the 2000 Miss Pumpkin Show competition. She remembers being in the crowd
with her friends and supporting Renee. For Katy, the night was very exciting
and was an experience she will never forget.
