Brooke Lindsey Thompson, 17, Westfall High School senior. Brooke is the
daughter of Brad and Donna Thompson of Circleville.
At Westfall High School Brooke is or has been involved as a varsity
cheerleader for football and basketball, a member of the competition squad,
National Honor Society, Who's Who Among American High School Students,
student council, senior class president, volunteer for Big Brothers/ Big
Sisters program, freshman attendant homecoming court, honor roll, dance
team, FFA, Pickaway County Leadership Conference, Westfall Showstoppers 4-H
Club news reporter, Pickaway County Junior Fair Board secretary, Pickaway
County Fashion Board, member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Circleville.
After high school, Brooke plans to attend The Ohio State University. She
plans to major in biology and then attend medical school. Her goal is to
become a neonatologist, which is a doctor who cares for premature babies.
If she could invite anyone to the Pumpkin Show, she would invite her
niece Riley. Riley was born last December and shortly after she was
diagnosed with Leukemia. Riley has spent most of her time in Children's
Hospital and has not been able to have the normal toddler experiences. If
Brooke were to see the look of excitement in Riley's eyes it would be a
prayer come true for not only Brooke, but also for her family and friends.
"To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the
world," is the quote by an unknown source that Brooke used to sum up her
thoughts of the experience.
For Brooke picking one Pumpkin Show memory was not possible. "The more
things change the more they stay the same" was the quote she used to
illustrate her point. Brooke points out that the journey of life is an
ever-changing one therefore her favorite memories of Pumpkin Show have
changed throughout the years. She said as a young child she loved to ride
the Ferris Wheel with her father and eat cotton candy. Another fond memory
is waving through the parade in the Little Miss Pumpkin Show contest. Also
leading the middle school band in the parade and cheering on her 'Miss
Westfall Idols' are memories she enjoys. Now she says the best part of the
Pumpkin Show is cheering on the Mustangs in the Thursday night parade and
walking around with friends. "With every curve in the journey of life a new
aspect of the Pumpkin Show becomes the beautiful scenery along the path,"
Brooke wrote.
