Rachel would bring her grandfathers. One, who she didn't know and one
who she only knew for a short amount of time. Dr. John Bowers, who was
active in bringing the Pumpkin water tower to Circleville and knew many
people throughout Pickaway County. Jack W. Mills, who was a Circleville
Police Officer for more than 25 years, spent hundreds of hours keeping the
streets safe for Pumpkin Show. He helped design floats for the police
department and had a strong love for supporting the community. Rachel said
both would like to see the smiling faces of all enjoying the Greatest Free
Show on Earth.
Rachel's most enjoyable Pumpkin Show experience was when she was chosen
as the Little Miss Pumpkin Show First Attendant in 1993. She said the
evening parade was her first look at what the court's reign would be like
and she said she liked to see everyone waving. She said she'll never forget
the clear sky, the smell of pumpkin foods and the pounding of the marching
band drums as she rode through as the newly crowned Little Miss Court.
