Shayla Nichole Rinehart, 16, Zane Trace High School junior - Shayla is the
daughter of Royce and Heidi Rinehart of Laurelville.
Shayla is a four-year member of track and field team, a one-year member
of cross country team, has played softball for seven years including one
year for her school. She is a member of the flag corp and a member of the
United Methodist Church and a participant in their youth group.
After high school she plans to attend the University of Cincinnati and
study in the medical field. Her goal is to become a pediatrician and have
her own practice where she can provide medical treatment to the uninsured
and low income families.
Shayla would like to invite her Great-Aunt Elfrieda from Germany to the
Pumpkin Show. In Germany, they have a celebration called Oktoberfest, which
her great-aunt thinks is the best festival on earth. She feels that if she
could bring her to the 100th Pumpkin Show it would definitely hold a special
place in her heart. Shayla is proud that a wonderful community such as
Circleville holds the "Greatest Free Show on Earth."
Her favorite memory of the Pumpkin Show was when she was a small child
standing outside Lindsey's Bakery waiting to see the World's Largest Pumpkin
Pie and wanting to put her hands in it -- but didn't, because she knew it
would be disrespectful.
